Believe it or not,
inanimate objects are gender-neutral.
Believe it or not,
no table has a vagina.
Believe it or not,
inanimate objects are gender-neutral.
Believe it or not,
today does not have a penis.
Believe it or not,
genderizing nouns is not simply useless
Believe it or not,
genderizing nouns is counterproductive.
Genderizing nouns adds
an unnecessary layer of complication,
to learning a language
and communicating with others
about things that actually matter.
We’ve had a whole lotta fun.
But seriously, German-speakers:
from now on, everything is “das”
… unless it actually has a penis or vagina.
And Spanish-speakers:
“Las Dias” means “The Days” or “The Gods”.
I assure you:
there is nothing
inherently penis-y
about an “O”,
and I assure you:
there is nothing
inherently vagina-y
about an “A”
