The American People (Reverse-Patriotism)

<– Video Songs

Preface:
Often our patriotic propaganda takes the best character that can be found in our culture and applies it to “The American People, in general”. This song is an example of the opposite of that: taking the worst that you could recognize and applying it to “The American People, in general.”

Four things of note:
1) The pictures are of Kennedy and Hitler. Some of the consistent propaganda against Hitler portrays the zealotry which surrounded him; while, supposedly, it is okay that plenty parallels can be drawn between Hitler and OUR figurehead scapegoats (presidents).

2) Hilary Clinton “absolutely” opposes the war… but she changes the vibe into one of patriotism. Further, now that she is the Secretary of State… where is all this “I absolutely oppose the war” business? I know, I know – “Michael Jackson died” and “there are fires”, etc. Back to sleep.

3) That Obama quote is not taken out of context: during the Democrat debates, he really did says that America, “it gives all of us the opportunity: a woman, a latino, myself”, then he moved on. Meanwhile, I am thinking… there is more to “America” than Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, Women, and half-black Harvard Lawyers.

4) Note the “Bush is a dummy” homage at the end: as everyone else is talking about “The American People” – dummy ole George is talking about “The Irish”. “Bush is a dummy” fodder is for half-assed political leisurists.

Now, the LYRICS,
Senator Clinton, elsewhere in the region – let’s talk about Iraq: one of your military-advisers, retired Lieutenant-General Claudia Kennedy, while campaigning for you in New Hampshire, was recently quoted as saying, “I don’t opposed the war… I have never heard Senator Clinton say, ‘I oppose the war’”. Senator Clinton, do you oppose the war in Iraq?

Absolutely, but I do not – and I don’t think any of us do – oppose the brave, young men and women, who have fought this war, with such distinction and heroism.

Obama:
that’s what is so powerful about America: it gives all of us the opportunity: a woman, a Latino, myself. And I have absolute confidence in the American people’s capacity to absorb, as long as we are forceful.
