What could go wrong
praying to the Gods of Algebra?
I pray, now, to the Algebraic Gods
and they tell me that the enemy
of my enemy is my friend.
So I claim that the gangs in Moscow
and the tyrants of China
are now on the side of justice,
then they give me their poisoned blessing
when I threaten to destroy Iran.
What can go wrong saying
“the international community expects…”,
when you mean
“we, the tyrants of the land, demand…”?
What could go wrong celebrating
that the corrupt figurehead-scapegoat
is now “black” instead of “white”?
What could go wrong ignoring that
“no option is off the table” (- Obama) is a
euphemism for “preemptive nuclear strike”?
What could go wrong
designing international-policy
by the precarious code of
“Might Makes Right”?
What could go wrong pretending
that you have the option to
“change the system from within”
when patriotism necessitates
your complicity in terrorism?
What could go wrong ignoring that,
in the 2008 United States
presidential elections,
you had a choice
between war… and war?
What could go wrong
being swallowed by the distractions
of “gay marriage”
and the skin-tone of a puppet?
What could go wrong
being swallowed by the distractions
of celebrities and their nonsense?
What could go wrong
being swallowed by the distractions
of your cowardice, fear, and apathy?
And speaking of apathy:
notice that, now,
Buddhism, Taoism, Yoga, et cetera
are becoming the religions-of-choice
for the well-fed cowards in our culture.
With these religions,
the well-fed cowards
can comfortably pretend
that their cowardice and apathy is zen:
“You create the world around you,
so it is their own fault,
if those Iraqi children and Iranian children
choose to be slaughtered
rather than live in comfortable suburbs,
in the U.S. – living safely and contently,
while tube-fed lies about the tyranny
of U.S. foreign policy.”
This is the subtext of the mantra
of the cowards in our culture.
